タイトルに①と入れている所からモロバレですが、
皆さんが知っているようで知らない
ゴルフ場の一日をこれからしばらく
書いていきたいと思います。
 
なお、記載上の都合により、
私の名前は仮に渡辺としておきます。
本名を書くといろいろ差し障りもありますので、
あくまでも仮にです。
 
従業員出社
開場はトップスタートの約1時間前です。
 
そのために、開錠IDを持つ当番の社員は
さらにその10分前には出社することが
義務付けられています。
 
10分で準備をしてお客さんが来てもOKとするのは
なかなかハードであるため、
 
キャディさん、ポーターさん達は、
当番の社員が出社するのを今か今かと
車の中で待っています。
 
ですので、社員が遅刻すると大変で、
5分遅くなった時などはキャディのある人から
 
「渡辺さん、5分で準備できると思う？
　ちゃんとしてよね。」
と怒られたことがあります。
 
いや、普段はなるべく早く着くようにしています。
15分前には。
 
まあ、明け方の道路は空いていて、
思ったよりも早く着いてしまうだけですが。
 
なお、5分遅刻した時は、
アラームが止められた携帯を片手に
二度寝していました。
 

 
ポーターさんというのは、上の写真の場所で
クラブを降ろしたり、
マスター室の前でカートに積んだりしている方々です。
 
全員ではないですが、ポーターさんは
基本、ゴルフ好きが嵩じて、定年後にここで
時間つぶし（？）をされていらっしゃる方々です。
 
そのため、他のコースのメンバーさんという方も
何人かいらっしゃいます。
 
空いた時間があればパターを片手に
パッティング練習場でパット練習をしていますし、
 
最終組が上がれば、その後について
いそいそとゴルフバッグをカートに積み、
ラウンドに行ってます。
 
もちろん、「目土」や「お客さんの忘れ物チェック」
もされているのですが、まあそれはおまけです。
 
このポーターさんやキャディさんとは
親睦を兼ねて年に数回、
ゴルフ爺婆№1決定戦をやっています。
 
残念ながらこの爺婆たちには
なかなか勝てないのですが。
特にキャディさん、本当にパットがお上手です。
 
さて、今日はここまでにさせて頂きます。
まだ開場時間に至っていません。

A Day at the Golf Course①
 
It’s obvious from the title that I’ve included “①,”
but I’d like to write about a day at a golf course,
something that everyone seems to know about but doesn’t.
 
For ease of reference,
I will provisionally refer to my name as Watanabe.
 
There are various problems associated with writing my real name, so this is just tentative.
 
Employee attendance
Customers will be allowed into the clubhouse one hour before the start of the first group.
 
To this end, employees who are required to open the doors are required to arrive at work 10 minutes before that time.
 
It’s hard to get ready in 10 minutes and be ready for customers,
the caddies and porters are waiting in their cars, hoping that the employee on duty will arrive at work as soon as possible.
 
So it’s a big problem if the staff on duty is late,
and when I was 5 minutes late, one of the caddies scolded me, saying,
 
“Mr. Watanabe, do you think you can get ready in 5 minutes? You have to do it properly.”
 
No, I usually try to arrive as early as possible.
At least 15 minutes before.
 
Well, the roads are empty at dawn,so I get there sooner than I thought.
And that’s all.
 
Furthermore, on the day I was five minutes late,
I went back to sleep with my cell phone in hand, the alarm turned off.
 

 
Porters are the people in the photo above who unload the clubs and load them onto carts in front of the master room.
 
Not all of them, but the porters are basically people who love golf and are killing time(?) here after retirement.
 
Therefore, there are several people who are members of other courses.
 
Whenever they have free time, they go to the putting range to practice putting with a putter in hand,
 
and when the last group starts, they follow behind, eagerly loading their golf bags onto the cart,
and go for a round.
 
Of course, they also repair divots and check for any items that customers have left behind, but that’s just a side thing.
 
Several times a year, I host the Grandpa and Grandpa Golf Championship and play with these porters and caddies.
 
Unfortunately, I have a hard time beating these old folks (I’m old too).
The caddy in particular is really good at putting.

The doors haven’t opened yet.
