いやらしいホールがここから5つ続きますので、
まずは無難に通過したいホールとなります。
 
「『いやらしい』と言ったら全部じゃねえのか？」
まあそうなんですが。
 
動画では簡単にバーディを取っていますし、
4つあるロングの中では
2番目に優しいホールではあります。
（Hdcp7.他のロングホールはHdcp2,3,12）
 
しかしながら、マンスリーなどの成績を見ていますと、
ここでダボとかトリを叩かれている方が結構いる反面、
ロングなのにバーディが少ないという印象があります。
 
やや狭いS字状のレイアウトとなっており、
左右どちらにもOBが出やすいということと、
グリーンを狙う際はたいてい左足下がりで、
 
ひっかけるとグリーン左のバンカーか、
その外のOBゾーンに行きやすい
ということがあり、
怪我をしやすいホールなのかもしれません。
 
と、十分にわかっている私ですが、
 
3rdショットを左に引っ掛けてバンカーorOB
⇒ボギーかダボ、トリ
 
というのがよくあるんですよねえ。
 
逆にグリーンの右に外すと、今度は
まさに「超砲台」という高さのあるアプローチとなり、
距離感が難しいです。
 
サンベルのグリーンは
 
正面の半分くらいは花道から平ら、
もう半分から片側側面はあごの高いバンカー、
バンカーのない方の側面は高い砲台
 
というパターンが多く、
方角によって性質が変わるため、
寄せにはいろいろなパターンが必要となります。
 
そして、奥はほとんどのホールで
「OB杭に囲まれて」という所も厳しいんですよねえ。
 
グリーンとグリーン周りの造成には
ジャックおじさんが相当に力を入れた、
けど、奥は面倒臭くなってみなOBにした
 
という気がほんのちょっとだけします。

There are five tricky holes in succession from here, so this is the first one you’ll want to get through safely.
 
“When you say ‘tricky holes’, don’t all the holes on this course are?”
Well, they are.
 
In the video, a birdie is easily achieved, and it is the second easiest hole out of the four long holes.
(Hdcp7. Other long holes are Hdcp2,3,12)
 
However, when looking at the results of monthly competitions, I get the impression that while there are quite a few people who get double bogeys or triple bogeys here, there are also not many birdies despite the long course.
 
The course is slightly narrow and S-shaped, so it’s easy to hit OB on either the left or right side,
 
and when you aim for the green, you usually lower your left foot, so if you hook the ball,
it’s likely to go into the bunker on the left side of the green or into the OB zone outside.
 
Because of things like that, this may be a hole where it’s easy to mess up your score.
 
I know this very well, but
 
it often happens that I hook my 3rd shot to the left and it goes into the bunker or out of bounds
⇒ bogey, double bogey, or triple bogey.
 
On the other hand, if you hit the ball to the right of the green, the approach will be as high as Mount Everest, making it difficult to judge the distance.
 
About half of the front of the green at Sanbell is flat from the fairway, the other half has a high-edged bunker on one side, and the side without the bunker has a high wall.
 
The approach technique required changes depending on the direction the ball is hit, so a variety of techniques are needed to get close to the ball.
 
And the back of the green is out of bounds on most holes, so it’s tough there too.
 
Uncle Jack put a lot of effort into the green and the surrounding area, but he got tired of it and made all the back area into an out-of-bounds zone.
 
I feel just a little bit like that.
